Tues 28th – Now…..17th March 2012!! The Forgotten Blogg....

So since I started applying for jobs its all been a bit crazy, I got a reply the next morning from one company with an offer and then another company got in touch with another offer so I’ve been on the phone with both trying to organize jobs and locations etc.  We wanted to take our time with the Great Ocean Road but cos of these job offers we ended up having to do it quicker than we liked… we still managed to stop at a recommended campsite, Johanna, for 3 nights on the way though, checking out a little bit of the local area, waterfalls and tracks… the last night turned out there was a HUGE storm, the tent was literally blowing onto Bennys face and there were puddles everywhere!! We discovered in the morning that the flap near Benny that’s a bit of fly-screen for ventilation at the bottom on the tent was OPEN on his side… that would explain all the puddles, soaking wet uggs, clothes and bed!! Thank goodness Benny had friends in Jan Juc, just outside of Torquay, we stayed with them for a couple of nights, dried out and checked out a couple of potential cars for me… Shane, Nic and their kids were such a cool family, with an amazing house Shane had built from scratch, think we’re gonna try and go back and catch up with them again now we’re settled…  After saying bye to them we kept car hunting for me and I also met the Physio Manager for one job and decided to take it…  We headed down to the Mornington Peninsula to check out where we were going to be based, Benny has a few contacts down this way for work and it suits us a bit better than living in the city.  We started to try and find a house, which wasn’t as easy as we thought, there were no share houses on gum tree so we started to look at renting with a lease, not a huge amount on options there either… in the meantime we were staying in Balnarring car park near the beach, you had to pick the right end of the car park cos at 5am every morning a heap of horses in trailers rocked up for their morning exercise on the beach!!  We quite liked the car park though J  We eventually found a house we both LOVED, double garage and then upstairs is all open plan with a big balcony and 3 bedrooms, we raced down to the library to use their computers and printers to sort out our applications… after we put them into the real estate we realized it was Wednesday and so we probably wouldn’t hear back from the agent for a couple of days so we headed up to the National Park east of Melbs for some more camping J  It was like a rainforest up there and Benny got really excited when it started to rain with the smell of the mud, saying that it reminded him of when he was a kid living in Lileydale, he also tried to tell me some of the massive holes in the ground where made by earth worms… I am yet to see one of these massive earth worms!!  After camping for a couple of nights we’d arranged to see another Suzuki for me, while we were test driving it and getting excited cos it was a pretty perfect little car for me Benny got a call through from the Real Estate saying we’d got the house!!!! Yeeey, we paid the guy for the car, sorted out a permit to drive it back to the peninsula and organized to meet the owners of the house on Monday to negotiate if we could have the place furnished…

Since then we’ve moved in with the place fully furnished, its gorgeous and we’re loving being able to chill out on sofas and spread out in a queen sized bed with a mattress that doesn’t have body grooves in it!!  Benny worked on my Suzuki and the mechanic has passed it as roadworthy so I’m just waiting to get it registered, I think I start work on the 26th March and Bennys going to start calling his contacts next week to get some work too J So its all worked out pretty nicely!! We’ve got 3 bedrooms so if anyone fancies a holiday down to the Peninsula give me a call, there’s heaps of wineries and spas around that I cant wait to explore…. J xxx
