Tues 17th – Wed 18th – Point Culver

Kept going along the tracks, after nearly a full day of driving we ended up on the beach at Point Culver…. It was late arvo and to be honest we weren’t exactly sure where the next track was to get out of the place any way so we found a sheltered spot in the dunes and set up camp.  Headed down with some fishing gear to check out the beach and fish… Benny caught a singray, it was frigging huge, pretty hard getting it back into the ocean!!  Back at camp we grabbed some food and then headed down to the beach for some night fishing, it was pretty cold and windy but we’d layered up and wee both enjoying some port to keep us warm!! I wasn’t really fishing but Benny handed me his rod a for a bit and I felt a bite, it took a couple of attempts but I eventually got the fish up to the beach… it was a baby mulloway, oopps!!! Note: Benny has said that his goal is to catch a mulloway before we get to Melbs, as he’s never caught one before, I’ve always joked that I’m gonna catch one before him… I was joking!!! Soo I did catch one first but it was only a baby, so we threw it back, I’ll let him catch the big one that we eat first J

We stayed the next day at Point Culver as well, mainly cos we didn’t get up until about 10ish and we really needed to be setting off before that cos we had a big drive ahead of us.  The march flies were out in force so we got to test the mossie net that fits into the awning out, with the modified Velcro and zip bits by Trish before we left J It worked pretty well.  I think Benny was disappointed though, he was making a march fly grave yard at his feet before we put the net up and was enjoying watching the ants attack and carry off the dead march flies… boys?!
